Okinawa Japan is one of the most famous island when comes to tourist attraction. People whom live in Okinawa generally lives on an average of more than 90 years some reach to over 100++ years old. The calmness and uniquesness of the environment creates the ambience for people to travel to this destination.
Back in the days US had base over there however now its more towards tourist attraction, I personally went there from Taipeh travelling via the Norwegian star, it was a cruise ship which passes through rough sea and during this time i also saw Mount Fuji. It was quite fascinating and itneresting.
As for tourist, you can get through places using their monorail, its quite convinient and guided with instruction towards many tourist attraction.
Think about renting a car, also possible if you need flexibility to move around these places.
If others think on a broader perspective on how to go okinawa, well the answer is fairly simple, FLIGHT is the most convinient way, but once you hit the ground then obviosuly car or monorail would be your best choice.
Don't forget about buses, Naha City bus is what you need to consider as well if you are in a budget and if you think congestion kills the time and effort getting to a location then take the bus.
With Japan and their mostly electronic way of handling in a digitalize way, therefore most of the places are digitalized.
If you are planning to go to the outer island from okinawa then ferry would be your best bet. No harm taking them as the people and operators are too and extremely friendly.
For those air travellors, don;t forget about Naha Airport just in case if you are finding what is the airport name in Okinawa to make your destination booking in and out.
