Lisbon attractions

Portugal's capital, set over seven hills that slope down to where the Tagus River meets the Atlantic Ocean, is a sight to behold. The city is known for its steep, cobblestone streets, which are lined with characteristic yellow trams that trundle along calmly.

Despite the fact that much of Lisbon was destroyed in the devastating earthquake of 1755, it still boasts a wealth of beautiful architecture and significant landmarks. The Castelo de Sao Jorge, in particular, is worth seeing because of its prominent hilltop location, which provides spectacular views of Lisbon below.

There are entertaining Fado music nights and a variety of tasty indigenous dishes to try, such as Bacalau.
