Take paracetamol or ibuprofen for a sore throat; paracetamol is better for children and people who can't take ibuprofen (note that children under the age of 16 should never take aspirin). Drink plenty of cool or warm fluids and stay away from drinks that are very hot.
consume soft, cool foods.
Avoid smoking and places that smoke.
