Sore Throat with Covid

A common symptom of many viral infections, including COVID-19, is a sore throat. A COVID sore throat can be extremely painful, but there are a few home remedies that can alleviate the discomfort.

If the sore throat is caused by a virus, most of the time there is no need for specific medical treatment. Within five to seven days, the throat usually improves on its own. Viral pharyngitis cannot be cured with antibiotics. An antibiotic may be prescribed by your physician for acute bacterial pharyngitis.

A COVID-19 test should be taken if: You are experiencing new symptoms like fatigue, a headache, body/muscle aches, fever, a sore throat, or congestion. Due to your age, other medical conditions, or weakened immune system, you exhibit symptoms and are highly susceptible to severe illness.
