Sambar is one of my favoourite dish that are added with rice to eat. I had the ingredients all lined up to show you but eventually i decided maybe show you some steps on how to.. well this sambar was a idea from Hyderabad restaurent thali meals... I notice from far how they cook.
I tried at home and the only video was the boiling sambar pot ......
Maybe you can watch cook with comali to learn doing sambar.. jusk kidding anyway.
How sambar made here's my take on this and hope you understand?
Vegetables and lentils are cooked separately in a simple sambar recipe. Lentils are cooked until they are mushy, then mashed.
Mixed cooked veggies, mashed dal, tamarind pulp, and sambar powder are boiled for a few minutes.
The oil (or ghee) is then tempered with mustard seeds, curry leaves, asafoetida (hing), and dry red chilies. This tadka, or tempering, is added to sambar.
Steamed or cooked vegetables are both options. When veggies are cooked or boiled in water, the broth or stew becomes quite tasty, in my experience. When compared to sambar cooked with steamed vegetables, this sambar has better flavours.
